Alice Eliza Wanstall was born at Hop Garden Cottages, Victoria Road, Canterbury Kent on the 19th of September 1886. She was the daughter of Thomas John Wanstall and his wife Matilda Stevens. She became known as "Jennie Wanstall". She married Francis William Robert Freeborn in Canterbury Kent on the 26th of December 1908. Jennie and Francis are known to have had eleven children.
